Dr. Sherri Young, executive director and health officer of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, noted, “Joe Diffie, who died of COVID-19 according to media reports, performed at the Clay Center on March 8.” While Young said those attending have a low likelihood of having contracted the virus from his performance, she urged Kanawha County residents to continue to exercise caution during the pandemic.
“Stay home,” Young said. “Wash your hands. If you have symptoms—cough, shortness of breath or fever—contact your health care provider.”
