Dr. Sherri Young, health officer and executive director of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, on Tuesday urged essential businesses that will remain open during Gov. Jim Justice’s stay-at-home order to limit the number of customers they serve at one time. This will create an environment that allows for a distance of six feet from others and promotes social distancing.
“We must stay vigilant and continue to stay apart so we can slow the spread of COVID-19,” Young said.
Sanitarians from the health department will distribute signs encouraging distancing to businesses that remain open to be posted.
Dr. Young also recommended today that travelers from all high-transmission areas isolate themselves for 14 days after arriving in the state. They should monitor themselves for COVID-19 related symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath.
